LIKE +ING

Grammar Rule

Examples

like going to the park.
love playing games.
don’t mind doing homework.

Remember!

We can use ‘like’, ‘love’, ‘hate’ and ‘don’t mind’ to say how we feel about an activity.
She loves watching TV.
He hates tidying his room.
They don’t like going to the dentist.

Be careful!

After ‘like’, ‘love’, ‘hate’ and ‘don’t mind’ we usually use the verb with ‘ing’.
I love using the computer.
He doesn’t like shopping.
She doesn't mind reading.

We say... We don’t say...

I like cooking. (NOT I like to cooking.)
She doesn’t like studying. (NOT She doesn’t like for studying.)
